As we all know Ramadan is a feast celebrated by Muslims around the world. During this time, they focus on praying, fasting, charity works, and religious devotion.

Since people are known as food lovers, it is normal for us to hear that there are foods which contemplates to the season and feast that we celebrate. Do you know that there are these must-try foods in Johor Bahru, Malaysia in line with the Ramadan feast of the Muslims? Don’t know yet? One of the popular foods among Malaysian people during Ramadan for over 60 years. What makes Bubur Lambuk special and even more popular is that it is being given out for FREE! Not just once, but for the WHOLE month of Ramadan.

Bubur Lambuk is a porridge (made from oatmeal/cereal boiled in water or milk) with a twist of coconut milk, beef, shrimp, ginger, cumin, cinnamon, parsley, green onions and shallots. Just by knowing its ingredients, it will give you the idea of how nutritious Bubur Lambuk is, right?

Try to walk along the marketplace of JB and you will not miss to see this pancakes. Kuih Bakar is usually green in color pancakes sprinkled with sesame seeds. You may see it in a flower shape, and also smells fragrant like flowers due to the aroma of coconut milk.

Another traditional food that JB can offer is Lemang. It is made from glutinous (sticky) rice, coconut milk and salt and is basically placed and cooked in a hollowed bamboo stick in lined with banana leaves – this avoids the rice to stick from the bamboo stick. This is commonly eaten as a sign of end of daily fasting.
