Pancake is one of the famous food choices when it comes to breakfast and afternoon tea. But did you know that there is a number of ways to level up your usual pancake? Here are some!

 

1. Traditional Fried Mee Hoon Kuih

Ingredients: 1 egg, 4 tablespoons cooking oil, 2 tablespoon sugar, 75ml water, butter

Procedure:

Step 1: Mix all the ingredients together, except butter.

Step 2: Put the right amount of butter once the pan is hot. Scoop a batter and spread using the back of the spatula.

Step 3: Flip the crepe to another side once the batter turned golden brown. Continue to pan fry until both sides are golden brown. Then serve!

Tip: If you like chocolate, you can add Milo or cocoa to the batter.

 

2. Fried Potato Pancake

Ingredients: flour, potatoes, salt, butter, onion chives

Procedure:

Step 1: Peel the potatoes and shred. Then put the eggs and flour in the shredded potatoes.

Step 2: Put two (2) small bowls of water, an appropriate amount of salt and spring onion then mix well.

Step 3: Heat the pan, then pour the right amount of cooking oil. Pour the batter into the pan and spread and start to fry on low heat.

Step 4: Flip to another side and continue to flip over until golden brown.

Tip: You can cut it into pieces before serving. You can also enjoy it with your favorite salad dressing or tomato sauce.

 

3. Yogurt Quiche

 

Ingredients: 125g yogurt, 1 egg, 75g flour, 10gg water, white sugar, butter

Procedure:

Step 1: Mix all the ingredients, except cooking oil, then stir well.

*If the yogurt is thick, add a little water.

Step 2: Add the cooking oil to the pan and pour the batter on low heat. Flip to another side once the color changes.

*Continue until both sides turn golden brown.

 

4. Green Onion Egg Cake

Ingredients: Spring onions, 2 eggs, 70g of flour, an appropriate amount of water, salt, cooking oil

Procedure:

Step 1: Mince spring onions and set aside. Beat the egg, add flour and mix well.

Step 2: Add minced spring onions and salt and mix the batter into yogurt evenly.

Step 3: Add a little oil to the pan, add a tablespoon of batter and flip over until fried.

 

5. Pumpkin Potato Pancake

Ingredients: 1 potato, 200g pumpkin (same size as potato), 1 egg, 1 spring onions, sausage, 2 tablespoons flour, pepper, salt

Procedure:

Step 1: Dice the sausage and set aside. Peel the potatoes and pumpkin and steam for 20 minutes.

Step 2: Mash the steam potatoes and pumpkin and steam for 20 minutes.

Step 3: Add a little oil to the pan, pour the right amount of batter into the pan and spread it. Fry and flip to another side once it turns golden brown.

 

6. Peanut Pancake (Apam Balik)

Ingredients: 300g flour, 3 eggs, 120g sugar, 1 tablespoon yeast, 1/2 teaspoon baking soda powder, 420ml water, fried peanut

Procedure: 

Step 1: Bake the peanut and grind the roasted peanut.

Step 2: Put a little amount of oil on the pan.

Step 3: Pour in the batter and spread out evenly.

Step 4: Cook over medium-low heat until the pancake is completely cooked.

Step 5: Spread with a dollop of butter then sprinkle evenly with ground peanut filling.

Step 6: Fold the pancake in half and cut it into smaller pieces.
