Located 30 minutes’ drive from Johor Bahru is a low-key town of Pekan Nanas, otherwise known as Pineapple Town in Pontian District. Despite being simple, the town boasts of many superb foods that you can’t afford to miss.

 

1. 龍兴药材鸭 Itik Long Heng

What makes this stall a must-visit is the fact that the owner uses a secret recipe to provide the best-tasting roasted duck. The boss also used 5 kinds of herbs and baked the duck for 45 minutes, which makes it crispy and chewy at the same time.

The first kiln roasted chicken with lychee in Malaysia can be tasted at Kampung Life 农家乐! There is also chai roasted chicken which is made with Chinese lychee and grilled in a special circular earthen kiln.

A traditional store, which has been around in Pekan Nanas for more than 30 years, selling mouthwatering snacks. It includes homemade shrimp cake, fried pancakes, fish balls, tofu, sausages, and Chinese sweet syrup, like momocha, black glutinous rice, and more.

This food stall hidden in the residential area has been in business for more than five decades (51 years). 李国旗laksa serves mouthwatering soups with special ingredients, such as fried egg, fish balls, fish cake, tofu, bean, and etc.
