What’s new and what’s hot this March? Brace yourself cause it’s going to be a month full of experiences and surprises!
1. Public Holidays
Based on the national list of public holidays, there are two public holidays this March 2019 but these are state-owned holidays falling on the 04th of March and 23rd of March.
State’s holiday
March 4 (Monday): Anniversary of Installation of the Sultan of Terengganu
March 23 (Saturday): Sultan of Johor’s Birthday
School’s first semester holiday
Group A (Kedah, Johor, Kelantan, and Terengganu): March 22 to March 30
Group B (other states): March 23 to March 31
2. List of mySalam beneficiaries
The mySalam National Health Protection Scheme gives access to people on Medicare and hospitalization benefits. All beneficiaries of BHS are automatically insured in mySalam, which includes the B40 group aged 18 to 55.
This program allows beneficiaries to receive up to RM8000 compensation for 36 diseases including cancer, heart disease, stroke, blindness, paralysis, encephalitis, fulminant hepatitis, major organ/marrow transplant, and more. When the insured person is treated in a government hospital, he/she can get a hospital subsidy of RM50 per day for up to 14 days or an RM700 hospitalization subsidy. You can check the online list starting March 1.

3. RM100 to be given to students
According to Sin Chew Daily, the Malaysian Ministry of Finance will issue RM100 grants to eligible students at the of the month through Bank Rayat. This is to help both parents and students with their study and finances. Eligible students are required to apply on Bank Rayat website. The application will then be reviewed by the bank and sends a personal email to the student to claim the money.
4. Taman Sri Tebrau Hawker Centre moved to Taman Suria
According to China Press reports, the well-known Taman Sri Tebrau Hawker Centre will be relocated to Taman Suria.
