JOHOR BAHRU, 16 November 2017 – IKEA Malaysia today welcomed customers to its first store in Southern Malaysia and the biggest store in Southeast Asia, IKEA Tebrau. Spanning 502,815 square-feet (46,713 square-meters) with 54 Swedish inspired showrooms, this highly anticipated store commenced operation at 10am.

IKEA Tebrau, the biggest IKEA store in Southeast Asia officially open its doors to the people of Johor and Southern Malaysia at 10 this morning.

Thousands of customers waited in excitement to step foot into the biggest IKEA store in Southeast Asia, IKEA Tebrau.

Prior to setting-up this store, IKEA conducted numerous home visits. Insights gathered from these visits provided better understanding the life at home of Johoreans. “We go to all extent to ensure our store, products and home furnishing inspirations appeals to local community. The home furnishing showcased at this store is well-suited for the local market and their increasingly urbanised lifestyle. With a team of over 300 co-workers, we are ready to serve more than 1.8 million customers residing within 60-minutes from the store and millions more beyond that,” said Annie Chandler, Store Manager of IKEA Tebrau.

Situated alongside other established outlets, IKEA Tebrau is now part of a vibrant retail destination, further boosting Tebrau as a great place to eat, shop and play. In addition to its home furnishing solutions, IKEA Tebrau will provide added services and offerings for the greater convenience of its customers. These include picking with delivery, assembly of furniture, home delivery, IKEA Gift Cards, 0% instalment payment plan, 100-day return policy, free WiFi and the ease of the IKEA Store App, to name a few.

To ensure greater accessibility to the store, IKEA Tebrau is equipped with an indoor and outdoor carpark, comprising of 1,771 parking bays in total. For a hassle-free journey to and from the store, customers can take a free shuttle from Larkin Sentral (in front of Selera Johor) and Kereta Api Tanah Melayu Berhad Muzium (beside Johor Bahru Sentral). In conjunction with the store’s opening, IKEA has also partnered with Grab. Customers can use the promo code ‘IKEATEBRAU17’ to enjoy a RM8 discount for two (2) Grab rides from 16 November – 31 December 2017. This promo code is valid for all Grab services in Johor Bahru.

Throughout the opening day and weekend, customers can enjoy various limited edition deals and in-store activities for the entire family such as face painting, balloon sculpture clowns and balloon giveaways, mascot appearances and more. The store is open from 10.00am – 10.00pm on Sunday – Thursday and 10.00am – 11.00pm on Friday – Saturday, public holidays (including eves) and replacement holidays which fall on Mondays.
