What is “fuel retail price ceiling”?

Based on the continuous decline in the international crude oil prices, the government began to implement a management float mechanism in December 2014. Based on the price fluctuations in the international market, the government decided to announce the domestic retail price of fuel every month.

Because petrol station operators often complain that oil price fluctuations will often cause their losses an in order to get closer to the trend of the international crude oil market, the government announced in March this year that the national implementation of the mechanism to publish the weekly price of gasoline instead of he monthly announcement. The first fuel price was announced last March 29.

After the fuel retail top-price measure is implemented, the petrol station operator can decide the selling price on its own, but if they want to carry out promotion, they must apply to the government in advance, and the manufacturer can’t sell it at a price higher than the top price.
