Johor Bahru City Council (MBJB) and Johor Bahru Central Municipal Council (MPJBT) introduced a new parking system using mobile apps called MBJB for MBJB, and SMSParkir for MPJBT.
The mobile apps can be downloaded from Android Google Play Store. The new methods were introduced by the local councils for the convenience of the public.
“This apps is a suitable system for those who do not wish to carry coupons for parking every where they go.” said Johor Baru Mayor A. Rahim Nin.
“Motorists just need to download the apps and follow the instructions provided which include registering their email address as well as their vehicle’s registration plate number,” he added.
The parking charges would remain the same which is RM0.40 for every 30 minutes and RM0.60for one hour.
According to Rahim, motorists can still rent the parking spaces using coupons. He stated that it is the council’s responsibility to provide parking spaces to motorists in areas under the jurisdiction for smoother traffic flow in the city area.
