Johoreans, brace yourself for the invasion of ten new large shoppings malls in Johor Bahru! At the beginning of this year, many shopping mall construction project have been inventoried. Settlement of this shopping malls in the city would mean economic development.

1. Paradigm Mall

Being abandoned for years, Kemanyan City soon transformed into Johor Bahru’s largest shopping mall – Paradigm Mall. With an area of 13 acres, the construction of this mall is expected to include 6-storey retail shop, 4-star hotel, more than 4200 parking spaces and 263 serviced apartments, BRIO Residences. The construction of this shopping is under WCT Holdings.

According to the official website information of WCT Holdings, Paradigm Mall will be opening in March 2017.

2. AEON Mall Bandar Dato ‘Onn

Another mall that would invade Johor Bahru is AEON Mall. On 2013, AEON has spent 70.2 million ringgit to buy Johor Land Bhd located in Bandar Dato ‘Onn with an approximately 20.93 acres of land. According to an online news, it is the second AEON Mall established outside the Klang Valley and Desa Park City. It will feature 3-storey shopping mall, third floor will for cinema.

3. AEON Mall Tebrau City

Located in Johor Bahru Tebrau City, Aeon Mall has undergone for renovation and expansion in order to meet the needs of the majority. Soon, Aeon Mall Tebrau City will face its new look. Johor Bahru Block 4 Fanpekka themed park will be located in this shopping mall as well as Zara, H&M and SPAO. Seems like people will soon have a new shopping mall for leisure and entertainment experience. Aeon Mall Tebrau City will open in October 27!

4. Mid Valley Megamall

Kuala Lumpur’s Mid Valley Megamall will up new markets in Johor Bahru together with SouthKey City Sdn. Bhd. The establishment of this new shopping mall has a gross development of 6 billion ringgit including. The construction of this shopping mall is expected to be completed by the end of 2016.

5. IKEA Johor Bahru

Last 15 September 2016, IKEA already had its groundbreaking ceremony, thus made shoppers to excitedly look forward for its near opening. This shopping mall cost more than RM500 million and has an area of 46,713 square feet. By the end of 2017, IKEA will totally unleash to the public!

6. Mydin Mall, Mutiara Rini

According to a report from The Star, the retail and wholesale giant Mydin expects to a open a total of 25 new hypermarkets in the next two years nationwide. Each mall would cost between RM150mil to RM300mil. What a great news for us shoppers!

7. Capital 21, Jalan Tampoi

Located in Tampoi Road Iskandar Malaysia, Capital 21 has a total of 6 floors with unique design concept. The mall has different style in every floor. The first floor shows European style, second floor has Australian concept, the third floor is styled as Asia. The mall is expected to be completed in 2018.

Tasek Central is an expansion of Plaza Tasek shopping mall. The transformation of Plaza Tasek into Tasek Central caters the ever changing needs, trends, and lifestyle of the huge population. Tasek Central has 138 shop lots expanding to about 370 shop lots in its five storey shopping floors and three floors of basement car park for shoppers’ convenience.
