Police Revokes Written Permit for Inter-State Travel to Avoid Long Lines at Police Stations

After the announcement made by Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador that requires the public for a special written “permit” to travel between states in the country, the police have revoked it with the fear of long queues outside the police stations, which could only worsen the spread of COVID-19 virus.

In contrary to the original directive requiring the public who are planning to travel outstation to fill up a notification form, Hamid said that only those who had good reasons to travel were permitted to go outstation. This includes those who are in need of medical attention, those who needed to attend funerals and visit their loved ones who are feeling unless. Nevertheless, the public is advised to restrict their movements, even from one district to another in order to maintain the movement control order.
