Tun Dr Mahathir’s inauguration was supposedly to be held at 9 AM this morning but was cancelled because of the early schedule. However, the PM-in-waiting said he hopes to take his oath later today at 5 PM.

“We expected to sign (the declaration) this morning. But everyone was sleeping and didn’t get up early enough. So we didn’t have the official swearing in this morning,” said Dr Mahathir.

At a press conference on Thursday, Dr Mahathir also said that there is an urgency to form the government as early as today as Malaysia has no government.

“We need to form the government now today, because currently there is no government of Malaysia,” he said.

He also confidently says that he has the support of at least 135 parliamentarians from Pakatan Harapan, Parti Warisan Sabah and others to his goal to form a federal kind of government.

As soon as all the parties have signed the declaration, Dr Mahathir hopes that the swearing in of the new prime minister will definitely happen.
