Great! The news is finally confirmed! 249 “my buses” (myBAS) short-haul bus services will be put into operation from August this year and will be divided into 27 major routes; this service is believed to improve local traffic conditions and provide residents with a more convenient transportation.

The government’s allocation of RM100 million and the myBAS “My Bus” service implemented by the Yau Lu Road Public Transport Committee have been used in many major cities in recent years. This service is mainly used to improve local short-range public transport services and allow users to wait for buses. The time is shortened and a more complete and safer bus experience is provided.


Implemented in four phases • First phase of operation will begin in August this year!

The myBAS project will be implemented in four phases. In the first phase, a total of 64 buses will be put into operation in August this year; Phases II to IV will be put into operation in November this year, April and September of 2019 respectively.


Of the 249 buses, 222 are diesel buses and 27 are eco-friendly electric buses. The types of buses are divided into long buses that can carry 65 people (including stations and seats), medium buses that can carry 50 people, mini buses that can carry 30 people, and electric buses.


27 myBAS main routes will be opened!

The 249 myBASs are divided into 27 major routes in downtown Johor Bahru. The shortest waiting time is a bus every 10 minutes. Each bus can only reach its destination within 20 minutes. The main routes in the first phase include Tebrau, Setia Indah, Pandan, Kempas, Ulu Tiram, Iskandar Iskandar Puteri and Senai Airport.

According to the plan, Kuala Terengganu will be the first city to have electric buses to operate with Johor Bahru, and the authorities are aiming to set up 20% of myBAS’s myBAS vehicles as electric buses. According to several cities that have implemented myBAS services, including Ipoh and Hibiscus, the average passenger capacity has gradually increased in recent years. It will bring more convenience to the people who take public transportation.
