Road Closure Alert: Several Areas in JB Are Closed for the Chinggay Parade

Johor Bahru’s most important religious event, Chinggay Parade is happening in two days and please note that in conjunction with this, some areas in Johor Bahru have been temporarily closed today until Friday, 9 March 2018. Commuters are advised to re-route to avoid getting stuck in the traffic.

March 6 (Tuesday) Roads Closed for Street Cleaning and Other Activities

Temporary road closures for street cleaning and other activities.

Road closures:

March 7 (Wednesday)

March 7 – Several roads will be closed from 8:30 am-2:30 pm.

March 8 – Wednesday

March 8 – The police authorities closed the road in phases. The first phase, from 3pm to 5pm, at the junction of Kota Dato and Datuk Indore Road, will be temporarily blocked.

First phase of road closure:

1. Persimpangan Jalan Gertak Merah / Jalan Dato Menteri
2. Jalan Ayer Molek

The second phase, which will start from 5pm to 3am: Sungai Choi Road traffic light and Abu Dhabi Road junction, A Yimo Road / Gothamme Road, Dato ‘Ong Road traffic lights and A Yat Mo Road junction, Wong Yat Street, Minnean Street, Siu Nam Street, Siu Chun Street, Tun Thuilera Road U Turn Station, Railway Station Road, Abu Dhabi Road and Inner Ring Road junction / Abu Dhabi Road.

Second phase of road closure:

To those who are coming from Singapore can choose from these alternative routes:

There are two alternative routes for people coming from Singapore to visit JB. These are: Shuguilai Road to the Inner Ring Road and then to the Lido seaside. Another route, from Singapore to Kota Tinggi, can be reached on the east evacuation route.

Suggested routes:

1.Singapura – Jalan Skudai – Lingkaran Dalam – Jalan Skudai (Pantai Lido)
2.Singapura – Kota Tinggi – Kuala Lumpur – EDL

From Shekou to Johor Bahru Central Hospital Route:

For people from Shekou to Johor Bahru Central Hospital, use Shuguilai Road to reach Lido Sea Road. From Datin Halima Road to Johor Bahru Town Center, use the Shuntang Road to Thomson Road and take Abu Dhabi Road; and from Kota Tinggi to the center of Johor Bahru, you can use the Eastern Evacuation Avenue to Abu Dhabi Road intersection, and then take the inner ring road to reach the destination.

1. Menghala ke Hospital Sultanah Aminah (Dari Skudai – Jalan Skudai – Jalan Pantai Lido)

2. Dhaj Jalan Datin Halimah (Jalan Kolam Air – Jalan Thompson – Jalan Abu Bakar)

3. Dari Kota Tinggi (EDL – Susur Jalan Abu Bakar – Jalan Lingkaran Dalam)

March 9 – On the same day, the sections of the palace to the ancient temple of Johor, such as Tun Lhasa Road (going from Sheung Shan Center to Sheung Kwun), Yi Hing Road Leah Building) and Sheung Wan Street will be temporarily closed for parade to Luenang.

1.Jalan Tun Razak (Laluan dari Bandar Johor Bahru ke Skudai)
2.Jalan Ngee Heng (Depan Wisma Maria)
3.Jalan Trus (Perarakan balik 5 tokong dari Kuil Xing Gong ke Kuil Kuno secara melawan arus)

Ride on UBER and avail of a discount of up to RM15 during the event!

The authorities are collaborating with UBER for the very first time to encourage people to participate in the event without the hassle and also to ease the traffic flow and reduce the inconvenience of public parking.

Some sections of Johor Bahru’s urban area will be closed during the Johor Chinggay. People who desire to take the UBER can go to the ten convenient pick-up points and avail of the UBER call service.
